Jerry is survived by four children: Jolene Long and husband David, David Morr and wife Jackie, Faith Hayes, Gretchen Roach and husband Jeff. Jerry is also survived by brother Mick Morr, twelve grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of forty-nine years, and loving mother to his children, Altha Mary Morr.
In addition to family, Jerry is survived by many friends from the community, Calvary Baptist Church in Shreveport, La. and Cypress Baptist Church in Bossier, City, La.
Born in Indiana, Jerry began his career as a Tool Maker in Springfield, Ohio before relocating to Shreveport, La in 1974 to start his own business, Southern Die Mold, Inc. Jerry and Mary worked together and built a successful business spanning over twenty-five years.
In the later years, Jerry was an active member at Cypress Baptist Church in Bossier City, La., where he served faithfully alongside his special friend Clarine Woodard. He loved his church family and they loved him in return.
Now, if you were to ask Jerry “WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT IN LIFE?” he would tell you without hesitation, it is knowing God and the love of Jesus Christ. Jerry knew the Lord and his irresistible grace. He served Him faithfully for many years, supporting numerous ministries. He had a hunger for the things of God, worshiped the Lord regularly and studied His Word. He would routinely speak of the growth of his church, and was always excited to share how many baptisms they had each week.
Jerry lived a full life, he served others and made friends everywhere he went, but in the end he would tell you that he was simply a sinner saved by the matchless grace of Jesus. There is no doubt that Jerry is in heaven with Jesus, rejoicing in His presence, having heard “Well done thy good and faithful servant”.
