As Director of Music Ministries at Broadmoor UMC for 16 years, I saw Charlie and Sandra almost every week. They always had a smile and a hug for me. Precious, precious people. I am deeply saddened by Charlie's passing. He was a strong man of God. I pray for Sandra and the rest of the family that they may feel the peace and comfort only God can give. Blessings to you all. Mr. Crowder was such an inspirational leader to so many of us at Woodlawn High School. He was a great friend, mentor and teacher, who cared deeply about each of his students. If the true measure of a man is how he is thought of after passing, then Mr Crowder is with few peers. After reading the previous condolences it is plain to see that he had that God given ability to positively impact so many young {at that time} lives. Your husband,father and grandfather helped many students formulate their direction in life. Thank you for sharing him with us.  I, too had Mr Crowder for civics in about '65 or '66 at Woodlawn H S.Then about '88 or so, my daughter had him for American history. As God takes him into His arms I pray that you, the family, will have peace and comfort with the knowledge that Mr Crowder was loved by a great number of the students he taught. Mr. Crowder was admired and respected by all the people who knew him.  I enjoyed with Mr. Crowder at all of the reunions. We talked alot about the good times.  He will be missed by all of us.   Nick Hodge Jr.

Mr. Crowder was a good friend of our father, Theophile Scott.  Both taught American History at Woodlawn HS.  We remember fondly his visits to our home in Natchitoches.  Please accept our sincere condolences at your lost - he was a good man and great teacher.  God bless.

I had Mr. C. in the early 70's, and even worked for him for a brief time while he was building his house. He was one of my favorite teachers. I was greatly influenced by him. Thanks for impacting my life Mr. C. Prayers for the family.

Love Mr. C so upset to hear this!!  He was absoloutely my favorite teacher!!! He always called me "Big Foot"!!  He was also the only teacher that had me ex-spelled for bringing a coke and candy in his class!! Still Love Him!!!  His birthday is the same day as mine and I always remembered that!!!  R.I.P. Mr. "C"!!  I'll never forget you!!!! ;(

I also had Mr Crowder for American History and agree with the other comments and I remember him being always the gentleman and a great teacher. I know the family and friends will miss him. class of '67

I had Mr. Crowder for Study Hall in 1962-63, my first year at Woodlawn.  His obvious fondness for his students had a wonderful and positive influence on me.  To this day, I think about that class and it still makes me laugh.  What a wonderful blessing he was in my life.  I have never forgotten him and never will.

Charlie was a lifelong friend of our family. My brother and I remember going to Matagorda Island w/him as a counselor when we were kids. He was a great friend and loved to fish with us on those trips. I remember him jogging from the boat to the beach through the surf with a full 48 quart ice chest on his shoulder. He was a very strong athlete and yet so gentle in his manner. He was a true mentor and obviously cared deeply about the kids he taught. You knew when you met Charlie, from the firm handshake and the engaging smile and eyes, that you were in the presence of a man of great substance and character. I didn't have Mr.Crowder as a Teacher, yet I always heard GOOD WORDS about him.I ask his Family to accept my heart felt sympathy, and I also wish comfort and PEACE,Knowing he was Loved by his Family.

Mr. C was an awesome teacher.  He made each of his students feel special and he encouraged us to do our best.  Rest in Peace Mr. C.  Gone but NEVER forgotten!  WHS Class of 1981

Mr. Crowder was my history teacher back in 67-68.  I met my future husband in his class.  He was somewhat  of a "bad boy" and Mr. Crowder went out of his way to help him get back on the right track.  I will always appreciate him for that.  My husband has since passed on otherwise he would be writing in this guest book also. Mr. Crowder will be remembered.

While a student at Woodlawn, I never had Mr. Crowder as a teacher. His former students remember him well. Once a Knight, always a Knight.

Steve and family, I am very sorry to hear of your loss.  Mr. Crowder was one of my very few favorite teachers at Woodlawn.  As much as I disliked school in general, I always enjoyed his class.  May he rest in peace.

I knew Charles as a neighbor.  He lived across from our store (Willie Cheatham Grocery) for several years.  He was a close friend of John David Crow (lived across Willow Street from him and played Lumberjack Football w him.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Crowder family. Although I didn't have Mr. Crowder as a teacher, I knew others that did. Mr. C was a great teacher who made learning American History fun. He taught me at Woodlawn and later taught both my children there also. He will  be greatly missed.

Sandra, I am so sorry to read o Charlie's passing.  I remember the years when you and he would take  Ashley and Chase to the nursery.

Of all of the teachers I had at Woodlawn, Mr. Crowder by far was my favorite one. He was a personal friend in more ways that one can imagine. He and I worked together many nights building equipment for the oil business. I have a hollow spot inside me now knowing I lost a dear friend. He was certainly one of the finest persons I have ever known. See you in Heaven Mr. "C".

Mr Crowder was my favorite teacher. He challenged us in many ways but mainly to realize the blessing of being an American. Bless his family. A great example for all his students.

I, too, was a student of Mr. Crowder at Woodlawn in 1966.  He is one of the only teachers that I have vivid memories of at Woodlawn.  I've often wondered how he was doing and where he was living.  I will remember him with fondness.  He will be missed.  Shirley Barnes Freeland, Class of '68.

Mr. Crowder was the most amazing instructor I had in all the years of my education.  His impact has lasted a lifetime. To this day he is the answer to the "secret question" Who was you favorite teacher?  You are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. He left an imprint on the lives of many.

So sorry for your loss.  I had Mr C for two different years and he has been the one teacher I remember the most.  I graduated in 1975.  Seems like I remember him working at the skating rink on weekends.

Mr. Crowder taught both my husband and I over 23 years ago and we both still fondly remember him, his stories about JFK, and his caring for his students. Condolences to the family for your loss.

So sorry to hear of Mr. C's passing. I graduated from Woodlawn in 1982, my Brother David in 1974. He was a great man and great teacher. A roll model for all his students. My condolences and prayers to the family. May God wrap his arms around you and give you peace during this very difficult time.

I taught at WHS with Charlie from 1962 onward.  We were transferred along with other Woodlawn teachers to Union High School in 1970 and for the first few weeks, we rode in Charlie's jeep to UHS.  He was a dear friend and colleague who loved Woodlawn with all of his heart and will be missed.  Rest in Peace, Charlie.

So sad to hear of Mr Crowder's passing....I was in his American History class in 1964...He was a great teacher and always cared about his students and their futures! My condolences to family...God Bless
