He began his teaching career in 1960 at the newly opened Woodlawn High School where he taught for 30 years. While there, he influenced the lives of countless boys and girls. He was affectionately known around campus as “Mr. C”.
Charles enjoyed fishing, hunting, coin collecting and most of all researching the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Anyone he encountered would be subject to a discussion of his very favorite subject.

He was preceded in death by his father, Isaac Miller Crowder; mother, Ovie Mattie Jane Crowder; and his sister, Patsy Ruth Crowder Barnes. Charles is survived by his wife, Sandra; son, Steve and wife Donna; four grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Crowder, Cody Shane Crowder and wife Amanda, Chase Michael Crowder and wife Tiffany, and Steven Colby Crowder. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Lynne Lowry, Gail Hale, and Sharon Bodkin; brother-in-law, Mike Corbell and wife Nila; and numerous nieces and nephews.
