Jesus said, " Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life." He does not come into judgement, but has passed from death to life - John 5:24.
Jimmy believed and asked Jesus into his heart as a youngster. He grew to know and love the Lord more every day, serving Him all the days of his life. His life reflected his love for Jesus.
Jimmy was a loving husband of sixty-eight years, father and grandfather. He was a hard worker, took special care of everyone and everything. He was a deep thinker, tender hearted. loving and kind. He loved opening presents, especially at Christmas time, gardening, nature, feeding the wildlife, visiting new places and serving his church. He always looked forward to family gatherings.
Jimmy was born May 6, 1936, in Pontotoc, Mississippi, to Altie and Lurlean Russell. He was a lineman for L. E. Meyers for twenty plus years. He was a Master Mason of Greenwood Masonic Lodge and a member of Greenwood 202 Order of the Eastern Star. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church for and served there as deacon.
He is survived by his wife Nita, two daughters, Glenda Graham and Teresa Russell, two granddaughters, Julie Graham , Heather and husband Larry Rogers III, sister Peggy Bramlett, brother, Jackie Russell and wife Ann, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Altie and Lurlean Russell, sister Sarah Baggett, brothers Altie Lee Russell, Jr. and Audie Ray Russell, and son-in-law, Steve Graham.
Funeral services will be held June 20th, 2022 at Centuries Memorial Chapel - 8801 Mansfield Road-Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. Visitation is at 10:00 AM and services will be held at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Brother Marvin Cooper, pastor of Bethany Baptist Church and Justiss Dudley, music director and youth pastor of the First Baptist Church of Waskom, Texas. Pallbearers will be Victor Metcalf, Tillman Jones, Richard Shoalmire, Bart Woods, Larry Rogers III, and Johnathan Shoalmire. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis Thompson and Tommy Russell.
Jimmy will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park.
