Joe was a proud veteran who served his country for over twenty years in the U.S. Air Force as a B52 crew chief. After retiring from the military, he worked as an aircraft mechanic at the Shreveport downtown airport. He then owned and operated a small engine repair shop at his home. In his leisure time, he enjoyed planting and growing all types of flowers and vegetables. Joe loved spending time in the woods deer hunting with Randy, Chuck and Doc. He had excellent woodworking skills and built many beautiful items and pieces of furniture.
Joe was a loving, devoted husband and step-father. He was a devout Christian man who loved his Lord and lived his life in such a Christian way. He served as an elder and Bible teacher at Waskom Church of Christ for many years. Joe prepared himself for eternal peace in God's Heaven.
Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, Margie Davis; step-daughters, Dianne Thomas and Debbie Plaisance; brothers, Robert and Paul, and twin sister, Jewel.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 26 years, Betty Davis; step-daughter, Donna George (Danny); step-sons, Randy Mitchell (Melissa) and Brad Hall (Nancy). He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.
A Graveside Service for Joe will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 11:00 am at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108 with Rev. Johnny Pistole officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
