

Jonathan "Chopper" Isgitt, born on January 8, 1970, in Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away on January 1, 2026, at the age of 55. A resident of Frierson, Louisiana, Jon was a devoted husband, father, and friend. Jon knew his Lord and savior and was very vocal about it.
Jon proudly served his country as a Desert Storm Veteran with the 82nd Airborne of the United States Army. His lifelong dream was to be a paratrooper and soldier, a role in which he excelled and took great pride.
He is survived by his parents, Jimmy D. Isgitt and Maxine Isgitt; loving wife of 18 years, Janis Kathleen Isgitt, and his children: twin sons, Mitchell Dean Isgitt and Brandon Lee Isgitt, and three beautiful daughters, Rebekah Len Isgitt, Ashlyn Isgitt, and Jenna Isgitt; his stepsons, Zachary Huff, Jared Frazier, Emily and Adam, and Louis Frazier and Rebecca; aunts and uncles, Rachel Free, Martha Procell, Cubie Dartez, Emma Behan, Sam Rivers Jr., Vernon Rivers, Chris Rivers, Wade Rivers, Stanley Rivers, Ellen DeFrance, Thomas Rivers, Lindsey Rivers, and Angela Rivers along with numerous extended family members, friends and Jon's best buddy, Roscoe, and his pets, JoJo, Charleigh, and Dee, will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Benjamin Matthew Isgitt, his uncle, Donald Isgitt, paternal grandparents, Ben and Beulah Isgitt and maternal grandparents, Sam and Mary Louise Rivers.
Jon's son, Mitchell, shared heartfelt words about his father: "My dad was always someone others could rely on despite his flaws. He was willing to help a friend anytime they needed it. He always wanted the best for his kids and tried to give us the best life he could. He always tried to keep spirits high when we needed it. I know he was always willing to protect us and sacrifice for us."
His wife, Janis, shared a poem Jon gave her: "I see you dressed in white, every wrong made right, I see a rose in bloom at the sight of you, oh, so priceless, irreplaceable, unmistakable, incomparable darling, it's beautiful, I see it all in you, oh so priceless. You are God's gift to me. Love always, Jon."
Visitation will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, located at 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108, on January 8, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 5049 Hwy 118, Mt. Carmel, LA 71429, where Jon will be laid to rest.
The pallbearers honoring Jon's memory will be Kevin Ward, Wayne Ward, Henry Rivers, Archie Rivers, Louis Rivers, Holden Rivers, Thomas Rivers, and Lindsey Rivers.
Jon will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his friends. His legacy of love, service, and sacrifice will continue to inspire those who knew him.
