

Shreveport, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Joseph Salvadore Travillion, 62, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2014 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Dupree Williams. Interment will follow with full military honors at Forest Park Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Road, Shreveport, LA. Visitation for Mr. Travillion will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
Joseph Salvadore Travillion died on November 5, 2014 at the Methodist Medical Center in Houston, Texas after a short illness.
Joseph Salvadore Travillion was born on December 25, 1951 in Monroe, Louisiana as a fraternal twin with his sister Marion Francis Travillion. Joseph graduated from Carroll High School in 1969, and attended Grambling State University in 1969-1972, he majored in Business Administration and Marketing.
He joined the United States Army on January 23, 1973, and served world-wide military duties until April 1, 1996; and served with the Louisiana National Guard at the Fort Humbug in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Joseph also served as a Career Counselor at various high schools (i.e., Huntington,Fair Park, Booker T. Washington and Captain Shreve High Schools); he recruited many young men and women to serve their country. Joseph’s compassion included providing life-time career counseling combined with guidance related to military and civilian educational opportunities and scholarships in order to gain advantages for life-time success and to assist these young men and women to become educated and productive citizens during this period.
Joseph married his life-time partner, Linda Joyce Grim Ross on October 19, 1998; she served as an officer in the United States Air Force Reserve Nurse Corps from June 6, 1994 to present. Joseph and Linda referred to themselves as the Hit’em High, Hit’em Low Travillion Duo Team launching in actions to overcome all obstacles in their lives, while providing courage and strength to support others in difficult times. They combined compassion included participating in many educational career programs and seminars promoting higher education and military opportunities to students of all backgrounds.
Joseph was a member of the Bright Oaks Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana; he and his wife were active participants in a constant daily global Christian style of demonstrating their love for all man kind in fellowship, prays, support, testimonies with family members, friends, and strangers.
