Shreveport, LA- A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Katie Loretta Griffin Gadd, 60, will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
Katie entered heaven on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. after a five week battle with cancer. Katie was such a real person. You knew just how she felt about everything. She can be described as witty, honest, loving, grateful, thoughtful and fun. Her whole life has been wrapped around spending time with family. She told me the night before her death, "Family is everything!"
She is survived by her mother, Loretta Griffin; husband and soul mate of 30 years, Tommy Gadd, four daughters, Traci and Pat Pierce, Tina and Jeff Trammell, Tammy and David Free and Brandie Sweet, as well as, step children, Shane and Kristie Gadd. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren who called her Grammy Bear: Hayden Sweet, Brittany Pierce Berney, Brianna Pierce, Connor Pierce, Madison Trammell, Brock Trammell, Lauren Free, Dakota Free, Morgan Free and Kale Gadd and two great grandchildren, Elijah and Jonah Berney.
She took great pride in coming from a large family of seven. Sisters: Gail Van Alsytne and Frank, Teresa Thompson and Dean, Janie Stork and Greg, and Carla Bagwell; brothers, Acie Griffin and Sharon, and Danny Griffin. She loved her nieces: Lisa Robinson, Krystle Griffin, Lauren Raley and Carly Bagwell and nephews, Brian Snedegar, Jason Thompson, Robert Griffin, John Griffin, Tadd Griffin and Ryan Stork. She also loved each of her great nieces and nephews. She felt so blessed to have such a large family.
We believe Katie was met in Heaven by her maternal and paternal grandparents; her father, Carl Hayden Griffin, Jr.; her "Second Mother", Mary Eubanks Sandlin and her nephew, Colton Bagwell.
Our hearts will long for her presence forever but our belief is we will be reunited in God's time. She will be painfully missed by so many.
We would like to give sincere thanks to the Christus Schumpert Cancer Treatment Center Nurses, as well as to Grace Home.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to either of those wonderful places.
A special thanks as well to Dr. Bob and Lisa Massengill.
We will miss you Katie Bug, miss you terribly.
