

SHREVEPORT, LA – Kenneth C. Long, 90, went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2012. Celebration Services will be Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Family will receive friends on Monday, July 30 between 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Centuries. Willis Dear of Summer Grove United Methodist Church will officiate.
Ken was born on November 17, 1921 in Green Co., Ohio to Edward and Viola Long. He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Fronah B. Long; and brother, Slick Long. He is survived by his current wife, Phyllis J. Long; son, John David and wife Jolene Long; sister, Opal Cowan; brother, Bus Long; three grandchildren, Michelle Long; Melaney and husband Zachary Wall ; and Justin Long and two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Kaitlyn Wall.
Mr. Long served his country in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean War. He was a faithful member of Summer Grove United Methodist Church where he served as choir director for the Regan Middleton Sunday School Class. He belonged to the Local Carpenters Union where he worked as a carpenter for 60 years. He belonged to the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. and enjoyed singing with them for over 30 years. Mr. Long never slowed down and kept himself busy with numerous activities.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to the Grace Home or the United Methodist Children’s Home.
