
Shreveport, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Kohl Douglas Johnson, 17, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church. Officiating will be Brandon Scoggins and Eddie Briery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 5pm to 9pm at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home on Mansfield Rd. in Shreveport, LA.
Kohl Douglas Johnson was surrounded by family when he went to be with his Lord in the early morning hours of September 19, 2012 in Tuscaloosa, AL. Kohl was born November 10, 1994 in Shreveport, LA. He was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church in 2010. Kohl was completing his senior year of high school at River Ridge High School in Woodstock, GA, after transferring from Byrd High School in Shreveport. Kohl loved being outdoors, mudding, hunting, fishing, racing, sports, and being with his family and friends. He will always be remembered as a vibrant, enthusiastic, handsome and driven young man with a brilliant smile.
Kohl is survived by his mother, Tammi Boswell (Larry Lynn) of Woodstock, GA; sister, Rebecca Johnson also of GA; grandparents: Gloria Lewis McKinney, Doug Boswell (Jeannette), Sylvia Gray (Dennis), Troy Johnson (Christine), Gerthie Lewis, and Marie Chavez. He is also survived by numerous relatives and close friends. Kohl was preceded in death by his father, Allen Johnson; great grandfathers and great grandmother, and other loved ones.
Friends fondly recall his compassionate nature and his ability to give “unsolicited hugs” when they were needed most. He had a special ability to communicate his feelings and comfort others with Bible verses, quotes, and song lyrics. Kohl touched the lives of everyone he met; his vivacious personality and contagious spirit made him exceptional.
Honoring Kohl as pallbearers are his best friends: Austin Devers, Spencer Bramlett, Chris Schimberg, Gage Meshell, Trey Pickett, Corey Bordelon, Tyler Rogers, and Dylan Duos. Serving as Honorary pallbearers: Larry Lynn, Eric Gray, Chuck Falls, BJ Coker, Tommy Pilcher, Andrew Pilcher, Frank Thaxton, and Joe Garrett Lynn.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to an account in memory of Kohl at Regions Bank to benefit youth suicide prevention.
