

Shreveport, LA- During the early hours of Thursday, July 13, 2017, following a two year battle with dementia, Mary Jane Ames Vance, age 74, passed away and went to be with Jesus, to whom she had devoted her life.
Mary Jane was a 1960 graduate of C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport, Louisiana. Within two years of that graduation, she married Glen Vance (a 1958 Byrd graduate), attended beauty school, began working as a hairdresser and gave birth to her first child. She fully devoted her life to being a faithful servant of God, a loving wife and mother, and a devoted church member at Southside Baptist Church in Shreveport.
Mary Jane is survived by her husband, Roger Glen Vance, Sr.; mother, Marjorie Dean Vines Ames; two sisters, Billie Richmond (David) and Vivian Shirley (Charles); “adopted” sister, Dr. Pushpita Pramanik; 4 children, Cindy Davis, Suzan Garcia (Jimmy), Roger Vance (Caryn), and John Vance (Elizabeth); 12
grandchildren, Wesley Davis, Aaron Garcia (Maureen), Brianna London Duron (Lucas), Andrew Garcia, Adam Garcia, Brynden Vance, Brailey Vance, Bryson Vance, Brooklyn Vance, Aidan Vance, Will Vance, and Emily Vance; “adopted” grandkids, Sudeep Pramanik, Sumona Pramanik, and Pradeep Pramanik; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her father, John William “J.W.” Ames and sisters, Linda Gillespie and Betty Sojka.
She will be remembered as one of the most loving and kind people to ever walk the earth. She adored her children and grandchildren, treated her daughters-in-law and sons-in-law as her own and showed the love of Jesus to everyone who crossed her path.
The family will greet friends from 4:00-6:00pm on Sunday, July 16, 2017, and the funeral service will be held on Monday, July 17, 2017 at 2:00pm, both at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home in Shreveport, LA. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park.
Honoring Mary Jane as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Wesley Davis, Aaron Garcia, Andrew Garcia, Adam Garcia, Brynden Vance, and Bryson Vance. Also, Sudeep Pramanik, Pradeep Pramanik, Aidan Vance, Will Vance, and Lucas London Duron are recognized as honorary pallbearers.
