Mary Elizabeth Johnson

Mary Elizabeth Johnson was born on December 11, 1933. She went to be in the arms of Jesus on Saturday August 1, 2020. She is being met at the gates of heaven by her mother, Clara Savell, her father, Charlee Savell, son, Andrew Johnson, Jr., and all of her brothers and sisters.

In her youth, she would rather be playing and having fun instead of working in the fields. She also knew the value of an honest day’s work. Betty made a career working at Sears in the catalog department. At one point, she won the honor of Queen Bee because she was the top selling employee. She was married to Andrew Clifton Johnson, Sr for almost 68 years. Betty never met a stranger. She had a neck hug for anyone willing to accept it. She loved children. She took great joy in her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Andrew Clifton Johnson, Sr., daughter Susie Buffington (Guy), granddaughters, Mary Buffington, Lynn Buffington, Lauren Buffington, Mary Johnson, and Jessica Johnson, as well as great grandchildren, John, Alyssa, and Elaina.

Due to the circumstances surrounding Covid-19, we are asking that only family members attend her graveside service. Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Reynolds, Mike Tatum, Joe Buffington, and David Buffington. Bro. Tommy Allen will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to honor Betty can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
