Mary Elizabeth Swayze, a longtime resident of Frierson, Louisiana went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. She was born April 30, 1937 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late E.N. Lyles and Essie Stephens Lyles. She worked for many years as a secretary with A.M.F. Beaird and with Gentry & Holder Floor. Mary was a dedicated member of the Frierson Ladies Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling. Most of all she loved arts and crafts. She was a very accomplished artist. She liked working with ceramics and costume jewelry.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Murriel E. Lyles (Mary), and two sisters, Doris Hollowell (Tonkie) and Ruth Hollowell (Donnie).
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Arthur B. Swayze along with several nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
A graveside for Mary will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home & Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert L. Swayze Jr., Ronald D. Swayze, Mike Taylor, Randy Hollowell, A.L. Williams, Harvey "Buzz" Kemper and Gary Sandifer.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Thomas Bernard and Dr. Permon Roohani and their staff for the wonderful care shown to Mary.
