Mrs. Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Westmoreland Reed

Shreveport, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Westmoreland Reed, 78, will be held at10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Blanchard, LA. Officiating will be Dr. Doug Allen and Rev. Mark Eakin. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Blanchard, LA.

Liz was born on May 23, 1936 in Ida, LA and passed away on November 19, 2014 in Bossier City, LA. Liz was a dedicated and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blanchard where she served in many capacities. She was an exceptional Sunday school teacher. After many years in the banking business, Liz retired as Vice President of Red River Valley Bank. She was the first woman to ever win the Lois Jackson Memorial Award from Pioneer Bank.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents Barney and Annie Westmoreland and two sisters, Billie Means Ponder and Julie Lavon Bain.

Left to cherish beautiful memories of Liz are her husband of 59 years, George E. Reed; children, George E. “Butch” Reed, Jr., and his wife Suzy, and Leslee Reed Morehead and her husband Lee; siblings, Helen Lucille Watson, Margaret Ann Gardner, Barney Westmoreland, Jr., Jim Westmoreland, Sarah Kay Stifle and Douglas H. Westmoreland; brother in laws, Frank Reed and Roy Reed; special uncle, Neuman Graves; 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Honoring Liz as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jeff Reed, Daniel Reed, Mike Reed, Albert Morehead, William Clark, and Brian Bolen. Honorary pallbearers will be Liz's uncle, Neuman Graves and the Deacons of First Baptist Church in Blanchard.

The family suggests donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Blanchard, Children's Building Fund.
