She moved to Shreveport with her husband and raised their five children. A woman with a profound work ethic, she worked as a cook at Captain Shreve High School for most of her career. Always restless, after retiring from the school system she often worked two jobs until finishing her second career at Morris Dickson until retiring again due to health issues. She enjoyed gardening and worked tirelessly in her yard. She cherished cooking holiday meals for her family but also always remembered her neighbors.
