Funeral services to celebrate the home going of Mrs. Neva McCoy Bumgardner, 91, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 31, 2011, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Means officiating assisted by Bro. Lawrence Cocherell. Interment will follow in Old Armistead Chapel Cemetery in Coushatta, LA. The family will receive guests on Sunday evening between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bumgardner was born on April 21, 1920, and passed away peacefully on the afternoon of October 27, 2011. She was a lovely woman who cherished her family and served her Lord. Mrs. Bumgardner was a faithful member of the Church of the Nazarene in Blanchard, LA, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed!

Mrs. Bumgardner was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Vallon F. Hicks and Mrs. Nancy E. Smith Hicks; her step-mother, Mrs. Minnie T. Hicks; her first husband of 50 years and father of her children, Mr. Claude W. McCoy; her second husband, Mr. Irman Bumgardner; three brothers, Herbert, Harold, and Lane Hicks; one sister, Aline Edwards; and grandson, Buddy McCoy. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Don McCoy, Nancy Sullivan and husband, Leland, Charlie McCoy and wife, Kathleen, Louise Jones and husband, Don, Lorraine Brummett and husband, Gary, and Doug McCoy and wife, Sue; sisters, Mary Anne Turnage and M.L. Desadier; brother, John Hicks; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; step-children, Jimmy Bumgardner, Betty Estes, David Bumgardner, Sarah Leachman, Roger Bumgardner, Tommy Bumgardner and Ricky Bumgardner; their spouses and numerous step-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Honoring Mrs. Bumgardner as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Donny McCoy, Gary McCoy, Scott Sullivan, Steve Sullivan, Don Jones, Jr. and Jeremy Jones.

The family would like to extend their appreciation and special thanks to Mrs. Bumgardner’s sitters, Fannie Devers and Lillie Harrison and also to the staff of Garden Park Linwood, The Grace Home, and Willis Knighton North.
