

Shreveport, LA- A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Newell Joseph Armand, 68, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home with a rosary to follow at 7 p.m.
Mr. Armand was born on June 7, 1949 in Cottonport, LA and passed away on July 13, 2017 in Shreveport, LA. Newell was a dedicated and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force until his retirement after 20 years of service. Following his retirement from the U.S. Air Force Mr. Armand worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter courier until his retirement after 22 years of service in 2011. He was a member of St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church in Shreveport. Newell enjoyed bass fishing and playing the guitar with friends. He was a huge fan of LSU and the New Orleans Saints. Mr. Armand loved to BBQ and didn’t think it was possible to BBQ well without having a beer in his hand.
Mr. Armand was preceded in death by his parents, “J.C.” and Ethelee Armand; son, Scott Joseph Armand and brother, Dale James Armand.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Newell is his wife Cheryl Troegel Armand; daughter, Holly Armand Roark; grandsons, Scott, Logan and Joseph Roark and sister, Karen Armand McBride and husband Mickey of Galveston, TX. Mr. Armand is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends all over Louisiana, Texas and Florida.
Honorary pallbearers will be his 3 grandsons, Scott Roark, Logan Roark, Joseph Roark as well as Jude Glorioso, Darrel Jans, Jim Person and his entire church family from St. Mary of the Pines.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made to St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church in Shreveport, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the American Cancer Society or the charity of donor’s choice.
