

Shreveport, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Opal Jewel Curlee, 92, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 27, 2013 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Minister Stuart Freeman. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park.
Opal was born on June 23, 1921 in Shamrock, Oklahoma and passed on October 19, 2013 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mrs. Curlee was devoted to her faith and was the wife of a minister. She was a member of the Church of Christ since 1932 and attended University Church of Christ in Shreveport, LA. A beautician by trade, she loved to socialize with everyone she came in contact with. Her name was a perfect match, because she was as beautiful as an Opal and was such a Jewel to all who ever knew her. Opal was a Virtuous Woman and loved her family dearly. Mrs. Curlee loved theatre and was an actress in many live senior plays. She enjoyed traveling and made several trips to Alaska and also went on many church trips. Opal also loved to go fishing with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Curlee was preceded in death by her husband, James Vernon Curlee; her parents, Luther and Nellie Gower; siblings, Levi, J.D., Max, Mildred, Luther, Jr., Grant and Bernice. She is also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Stacey Curlee Johnston and Deborah Moseley.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Opal are her children, Jerry Curlee and wife Martha, Patricia Stewart and husband Glenn and Kathleen Hines; grandchildren, David Curlee, Kelley Craig, Connie Pace, Darell Moseley and Christopher Hines; great grandchildren, Rebecca Curlee, Taylor Johnston, Colton Craig, Daniel Griffin, Derrick Griffin, Nicholas Pace, Ashley Sanders and Candace Moseley.
Opal will be missed by all who knew her, she was one who loved life and lived it to the fullest.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to all those at the Guest House and the Promise Hospital, who took care of her toward the end of her earthly life.
Again, Opal will be sorely missed, but we do know she is alive and well with the Lord Jesus Christ.
