Raymond Don Wilson, Sr. age 88, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021. A funeral service for Raymond will be held Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A graveside service with military honors will follow in Centuries Memorial Park.
Raymond was born June 23, 1933 in Lawrenceville, Georgia to Adolph S. Wilson and Ella J. Johnson. Raymond joined the United States Army immediately after high school. He honorably served in the Army for over 20 year before retiring. While Raymond was in the military, the couple and their family lived all over the world. Raymond was stationed in various places throughout the United States, Japan and Germany. Raymond also served in the Korean War in two deployments and the Vietnam War. After Raymond retired from the military, he began driving an 18 wheeler across the country, his wife, Pat joined him.
Raymond is survived by his sons Warren Wilson, Raymond Wilson, Jr. (Paula), Carl Wilson and Edward Kazama; granddaughters Tamara Wilson Waters and Melissa Wilson; grandsons Raymond Wilson, III, Steven Wilson and Brian Wilson. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, and numerous other family members.
Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Patricia Wilson; son Michael Wilson and in-laws Warren and Easter Rosenbaum.
