Robert F. Green, age 68, of Shreveport, LA, stepped over into glory on Wednesday, May 31,2023. His life was a testament to the mercy and grace of Jesus Christ, his savior.
A visitation will be held Saturday, June 10th, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home & Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA. The family is looking forward to seeing family and friends.
Robert is survived by his wife, Debbie; his children, Robert Allen Green (Shonda) and Benjamin Thomas Green (Lacey); his grandchildren, Kalob Green, Alexander Green, Kaleb Derouen, Emma Hebert and Cameron Hebert; mother-in-law, Dora Thomas, as well as his many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Eleanor Green; sister Francis (Frannie) Green, and father-in-law, Lamon Thomas Robert, graduated from Fair Park High School in 1973 and served the Arklatex as a Sears Roebuck service technician for over 30 years. His loving nature and excellent technical skills made him a preferred technician by many of his customers. Many times, his customers would bless him with gifts of food and antiques to show their appreciation of his sweet personality.
Without a doubt, Robert loved to be outside. Be it trains, hunting, fishing, fixing things, collecting antiques, traveling with Debbie or taking care of his yard, Robert refused to be still. Even as he aged and his body became more worn, he refused to let that stop him from enjoying the things he loved to do. Doubtful he would change anything if given the chance.
His enjoyment of his hobbies was only trumped by his endearing love for, Debbie. The first words he ever spoke to her were, “You have stars in your eyes”. In 50 years of marriage, not once did Debbie ever doubt his love for her. They understood the commitment to love each other in good times and bad, in wealth and poverty, in sickness and health, until death did them part. God be praised, this parting is temporary! For Robert, today is discovering the beauty and awe of his saviour, Jesus Christ, and the kingdom of God that awaits every believer in him.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Ochsner LSU Shreveport, Willis Knighton Pierremont and the Shreveport EMS & Fire Department for their excellent treatment and care of Robert.
If Robert could say one thing today, it would be, “Do not wait. Believe in Christ. His kingdom is more real than the very earth we live on. Grieve only for a short time, then go tell the world about Jesus Christ and the gift of eternal life awaiting those who have faith in him. I will see you soon.”
