

Graveside service will be held at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Rd. Shreveport, LA 71108 on Saturday, June 7, 2014, for Ruby Lee Burns Miller. Officiating will be Rev. Derek Joyce. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. Ruby Lee is survived by a sister Dessie Burnham, one brother, Pleasant Burns, and twenty – two nieces and nephews. Preceding Ruby Lee in death are her husband, John L. Miller, three brothers, John Henry, Lester and Prentiss Burns, and eight sisters Mamie Brock, Ruth Roden, Videra Caswell, Gracie Stephenson, Jacinta Gulledge, Susie Bennett, Geneva Cloutier, Martha Pharis, as well as nieces and nephews, Rose Nelson, Carolyn Walker, Warren Roden, Marjorie Conville, Martha Jane Bourgeois , Richard Stevenson, Russell Bennett and Gregory Bennett. Surviving nieces and nephews are, Ronald Burns, Susan George, Patricia Miller, James Burns, Penny Bromell, Ted Burns, Linda Holman, Becky Holt, Jennifer Clousing, Lynda Stanley, Nancy Hunnicutt, Kenton Gulledge, Bruce Bennett, Patricia Bennett-Bigham, Jeanne Merola, Karen Foster, Conrad Bennett, Dennis Bennett, Dianne Carrigan, Jacque Murphy, Brenda Stewart, and Russ Burnham. She was an educator for forty – two years teaching in Webster Parish, Caddo Parish, Abilene, Texas, Tachikawa, Japan, and St. Mark’s in Shreveport, LA. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Four Square Bible Class, Retired Teacher’s Association, and a Life member of P.T.A. of Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, any contributions may be sent to First United Methodist Church Four Square Bible Class. A special thanks goes to her caregivers who provided tender, loving care: Susie Sullivan, Nancy Talley and Betty Poole, and for decades of being a dependable helping hand, Seborn Samuels.
