Steve is preceded in death by his mother Mary and his stepmother Margaret. He leaves behind his loving wife of 33 years Doris Ann Blackwell and his four daughters and one son; Sherri Weir, Hope Crawford, Kristie Roberts (Dan), Ashley Barker and Wesley Strawn and is also survived by three sisters, Shirley, Phyllis and Barbie; 16 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as his father, John Blackwell.
Steve spent 40 years working in the oil field industry, which lead to his retirement in 2015. He spent the last 4 years attending Open Range Fellowship. In Steve’s free time, he enjoyed traveling with his wife Doris, watching LSU sports and spending time with all his grandkids.
A Celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home with an interment to follow in Centuries Memorial Park. The family will received guest beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the service time on Tuesday. Pastor Dennis Aaron of Open Range Fellowship will be officiating the services.
Honoring him as pallbearers are his seven grandsons: Baron Blackwell, Steven Taylor, Dallas Singleton, Kohl Barker, Noah Roberts, Carter Crawford, and Seth Crawford.
