

Murray Anne Virginia, 61, passed away peacefully with grace, her family around her, June 30, 2011 at her home in Lantz, NS.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of thirty-eight years, Chris, her two wonderful children and their families: Krista (Brian), Quinn, Brea & Maggie; David (Melanie), Ella & Jackson. Anne is also survived by her mother, Vivian Hayes, sister, Marie (Kenny) and brother, Pat (Trudy), as well as her nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her father Gordon Hayes.
Anne was born in Middleton, Nova Scotia on December 7, 1949 to Gordon and Vivian (MacPhee) Hayes. Following graduation from Acadia University in 1970 and a year of internship at Victoria General Hospital in Victoria, BC, Anne pursued a career in dietetics, at Kentville Regional Hospital. From 1975-1982 she chose to stay home with her children. In 1983, following a year of study at Mount Saint Vincent University, Anne returned to work at the Nova Scotia Diabetes Education Centre where she eventually became the program’s manager. She went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Adult Education from Mount Saint Vincent University in 1998. Anne spent the remainder of her career at Cancer Care Nova Scotia where she became the Provincial Director of Education.
Anne enjoyed creating her beautiful gardens, baking cookies with her grandchildren, creating fabulous desserts, travelling (in particular to Disney World), fine dining, shopping, and spending time with Chris and their family and close friends.
The family want to extend their sincere thanks for the wonderful care and support they received from Anne’s family doctor, the medical staff at the QEII and the Nova Scotia Cancer Centre, the staff at the Elmsdale Pharmasave, as well as the support from the palliative care team and the many VON staff that cared for her at home.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 4, 2011 from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm at Ettinger’s Funeral Home, 2812 Highway 2, Shubenacadie, NS. A celebration of Anne’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Riverview United Church in Elmsdale, NS at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Friends and family may visit Anne’s Everlasting Memorial at ettingerfuneralhome.com, where they may view cherished photos and leave condolences by signing the guestbook.
