

BURNETT, Blanche Bertha –Port Alberni, BC/Milford, NS, born in 1914 in Lake Egmont, Nova Scotia. Blanche died on September 9, 2010 in Port Alberni, British Columbia. Mom spent most of her life in Nova Scotia where she and her husband, the late John Burnett, raised four boys on the family farm in Middle Musquodoboit. After the boys grew up the farm was sold and they moved to Dartmouth where Dad worked as a carpenter until retirement. Following that they built a retirement home in Milford Station. After dad’s death in 1993 mom moved to BC to be closer to her sons. Mom had a lifelong hobby in crocheting and there was rarely a time when she did not have her hands active with one project or another. Mom did not stop crocheting until one month before her death. Mom was a quiet person with tremendous inner strength. Blanche was predeceased by her husband John in 1993, her siblings Gladys MacKay, Edith Spares, Florence Langille, Frances Kellough, John Murphy, Mabel Spares, Roy Murphy and Rita Skinner. She is survived by four sons: Frank (Betty), Edgar (Arlene), Ernest (Elaine), and Keith (Sandi), brother Ralph Murphy (Bessie) and sister Edna Baker. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, special niece and nephew Shirley Shannon and Doug Kellough and many other nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 7-9pm, September 29, 2010 at Ettinger Funeral Home, 2812 Main Street, Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia where a funeral service will be at 1:00 pm, Thursday, September 30, 2010 with James Skinner officiating.
