

ANDREWS, Donald Alvin C.D.- 80 of South Branch passed away at home on Saturday October 13, 2012. He was the son of the late Harry B. and Elsie E. (Bamford) Andrews. Don attended Stewiacke School and N. S. Provincial Normal College. In 1952 he joined the North Nova Scotia Highlanders, which became the Black Watch of Canada en route to Korea. He served 26 years in Canadian Armed Forces and was a life member of Stewiacke Branch 70, Royal Canadian Legion. Always a volunteer in his community, he served as an Assistant Director of Minor Hockey in Oromocto N. B. In 1967 he received the Centennial Certificate of Appreciation from the C.A.H.A. Don was a former Stewiacke Town Councillor and director of the Central Nova Tourism Association. He was an avid Hockey Player and sports fan. He was a member of the Air Force Association of Canada, Truro Wing, and served 12 years with the Corps of Commissionaires. He is survived by Daughters Elizabeth (Aaron Allen) Andrews, Erin O’Neil, Merrianne (Devon) Ashe and son David (Rachel Tucker ) Andrews, Grandchildren Tanya, Jennifer, Daniel, Alana, Jacob, Alexa, Aliesja, Brianne, Isaiah, Livia, Owen, Great Grandchildren; Jordanna, Aurora, Morgan, Anthony and Taylor, sisters Elaine and Janet, Brothers Harry, Richard, Kenneth, Stanley and Alan, several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters Madelyn and Emma Lou. On Tuesday October 16th there will be a Legion Tribute service at 7pm followed by a visitation at the Ettinger Funeral Home 2812 Hwy # 2 Shubenacadie. Donations in Donald’s Memory may be made to the Poppy Fund at Stewiacke Branch # 70.
