Eric Porrior

PORRIOR, Colonel (retired) the Reverend Canon Eric V. of Lantz passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones Friday March 2 at the QE 11 Hospital Halifax in his 85th year. Born in Halifax he was the son of the late Harry Albert and Hazel Clara (Meehan) Porrior. Eric served for 30 years as a chaplain in the Canadian Armed Forces where he dedicated himself to supporting and caring for all Canadian Forces personnel and their families, wherever they lived and served. Eric continued on with his lifetime commitment to caring and serving for others in the communities of Cumberland, Orleans (Ontario), Timberlea and Lantz (Nova Scotia). Surviving are his wife Faye (Miller) at home, sons Stephen, Brian (Danielle), Rodger, Paul (Sylvie) all of Ottawa. Grandchildren Stephanie, Aline, Christian, nieces Marilyn Bellamy (John), Cindy Miller (Judy MacDonald); nephews Doug Zinck (Marie), Jeff Miller (Carmelle), Craig Miller (Janet) brother in- law Ed Guimond. He was predeceased by first wife Ruth Rafuse, sister Theda Zinck, sister in-law Joyce Guimond, brother and sister in-law Keith and Roxie Miller. He will be missed by his dog Angus. Visitation Wednesday March 7 at the Ettinger Funeral Home from 6-9 (Exit 10 off highway 102). Funeral services 11am Thursday Christ Anglican Chuch, Lantz, Rev’d Robert Brush officiating assisted by Rev’d Canon David Fletcher.Spring burial in Christ Anglican Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Elmsdale Legion.
