

MICHIE, Paul Stuart – 69, Stewiacke, passed away after a brave battle with cancer. Born in Belleveau’s Cove, February 2, 1943, to the late John and Constance (Gaudet) Michie. A 24 year veteran of the Canadian Navy. Paul served his community as a member of the Stewiacke Legion, fire department and Stewiacke Town Council. Paul was a life-long artist who loved woodburning, painting and making canes for family and friends. He was a champion gardener and his grandsons looked forward to “Groundhog’s” giant pumpkins each fall. Paul could often be found at the farm on the Gator or with his coffee buddies at Tim’s. Foremost in his life was his love of family and friends. Paul is survived by his wife Lorraine (Atkinson), daughters Rosalind (Doug) Annand, Digby; and Meredith Chamberlain, Timberlea; two loving grandsons Mitchell Annand and Riley Chamberlain; brother Jim (Judith) Michie, Aylesford; brother-in-law Dale (Audrey) Atkinson, Hantsport. Paul was predeceased by brothers Philip, John and Allan. The family would like to thank the team at the Cancer Clinic in Halifax, the nurses at the chemo clinic and the 3rd floor, Colchester Regional Hospital. A special hug to Dawn Martel, Dr. Henderson, Dr. Smith and the VON for their expertise and compassion. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie. No visitation or funeral by request. Family burial at a later date. A celebration for family and friends will be held at the St. Andrews United Church Hall, Stewiacke, 2-4pm, Sunday June 24, 2012.
