Stephen John Michael

MICHAEL, Stephen John – 58, of Indian Brook passed away with family at his side on Monday, August 1, 2011 at the Colchester Regional Hospital Truro. Born in Truro he was the son of the late Noel and Rita Rose (Paul) Michael. Stephen was the 1st President of Native Youth in Nova Scotia, was a member of the Indian Brook Council for 8 years, and Band constable for 5 years. He was a member of the RCMP for 25years serving in Stewiacke, Indian Brook, Enfield, Millbrook and Command Head Quarters, 3 years at Stanfield Airport as a Commissioner. Stephen was a Keptin of the Mi’Kmaq Grand Council for 31 years, and recently a treatment councilor at Eagles Nest at Indian Brook, a twenty five year proud member of AA’s, and was instrumental in the formation of the Mi’Kmaq Fishing Industry. He is survived by his wife Eleanor (Nevin), daughters Paula, Lisa, Erin (Gregory Francis), Eleanor, sons Robert and William, grandchildren Jordan, Brittany, Reece, Garrett, Shurenda, Zachery, Gregory, Rita -Rose, Stephen, Aleah, Peter, Cheyanne, Joseph; many nieces, nephews and Godchildren; sisters Magdeline, Catherine, Lavina, Sarah, Patricia, and Nina; brothers Joe (Bunny), Larry (Loretta), Norman (Sheila); also Steve’s sisters- in-law Shirley Ann Taylor, Jean (Bernie) Knockwood, Rose Ann (Curtis) Michael, Margaret Nevin, Sheila Nevin (Gary), brothers –in-law Stephen, Wallace, William (Connie), Anthony (Elizabeth), David (Mary) and James. He was predeceased besides his parents by brothers Ronald, Curtis, Wilfred, Noel and sister Laura. Visitation will take place at his late Residence 77 Sesame Street, Indian Brook until time of service at 11 am Saturday, August 6, 2011 in Indian Brook Community Centre, Fr.
