

He was born on September 29, 1958, in Sikeston, MO to the late Violet Hanshew Barnett and Curtis Dean Barnett.
On November 30, 1979, in Sikeston, MO he married Angie Brown Barnett who preceded him in death on November 21, 2020.
He was employed at Sikeston High School as the automotive and collision repair instructor.
He was lovingly referred to as Barney, Uncle Waynie and Pawpaw. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a lifelong outdoorsman, with a love for fishing, coon hunting and deer hunting. He taught collision repair classes at Sikeston Trade School for twelve years and worked at Sikeston Motor Company for twenty-six years. In his youth, he was a champion baseball player. His love for sports stayed with him throughout his life and many nights you could find him at Sikeston High School basketball and football games.
He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Chris Newell of Sikeston, MO. and B.J. and Sara Barnett of Dexter, MO.; one daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Gary Eaton of Bernie, MO.; thirteen grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, Leah and Lilly Barnett and one great-grandson, Waylon Dewayne Barnett.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Barnett; one brother, Carl Barnett and one sister, Elizabeth Ann Henry.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, MO.
Interment will follow in the New Morley Cemetery in Morley, MO.
