

Daris was born September 29, 1935, in Newport, Arkansas. He moved to Sikeston as a small child.
He ran the Burgess Band and Ice Company and had a Tom’s route. He served in the Navy as a CS3.
He was a devout member of the fellowship Baptist Church of Sikeston.
He was a loving father and grandfather who is survived by one daughter, Gloria Powell; one son, Steven Burgess (Toni); grandchildren, Chris Menken (Pearl), Jennifer Klein (David), Tom Foote (Lindsey), Mandy Ellsworth (Mathew), Madeline Ketcherside (Tristan); thirteen great grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Anna Lee, daughters Linda Brown and Sondra Poetzman, granddaughters, Jill Burgess and Leigh Ann Brashear, and great grandson Jaxson Brashear.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Sikeston, MO from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. with Bob Houchin, Pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church of Sikeston, officiating.
Interment will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.

Pallbearers will be: Mathew Ellsworth, James Ellsworth, Tristan Ketcherside, Daniel Lynne Williams, Jim Hovis and Connor Norwald.
