

Freddy Lee Hargrove, 82, of Sikeston, died July 21, 2015, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Born July 5, 1933, in Deering, Mo., to the late Robert and Myrtle Thompson Hargrove, he was a veteran of the United States Army, retiring after 22 years of service. During his military career he served two tours in Korea and one tour in Vietnam. He later was employed by DAEOC as the Director of Weatherization, retiring after 20 years. He was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Sikeston, where he was a Sunday school teacher for 25 years. On May 12, 1967, in Benton, he married Wanda Grimes, who preceded him in death on December 29, 2000.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Lisa Buckthorpe of New Madrid; one daughter, Letha Buckthorpe of Sikeston; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Amy Breed and June Nelson Wright; one brother, Robert Hargrove; and two sisters, Colleen German and Jackie Hargrove.
Visitation will be held beginning at noon until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 24, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. Bro. Jerry Adams, pastor of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Sikeston, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be Robert Culbertson, Paul King, Jeff Welter, John Welter, Michael Hargrove, Tommy Stinnett, Matt Bolen and Ted Long.
