
Saundra Gail Joyce, 70, of Canalou, died May 25, 2011, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center. She was born on May 5, 1941, in Malden, to the late John and Belle Williams Holtzhouser. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Canalou and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Morley. She worked for 20 years as a nurse at the Sells Rest Home in Matthews and Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.
On April 15, 1961, in Bloomfield, she married Charles Edward Joyce, who preceded her in death on Feburary 1, 2007.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Crissie Joyce of Canalou; two brothers and sisters-in-law, George Wayne and Wanda Holtzhouser of Sikeston and Carrell and Shirley Holtzhouser of Malden; and one granddaughter, Tori Joyce of Canalou. Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by one son, Keith Joyce.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00pm on Friday, May 27, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. Services will be held in the Nunnelee Chapel at 10:30am on Saturday, with the Rev. Jim Cornman, pastor of the Qulin Baptist Church officiating, assisted by the Rev. Mike Cartwright, pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Canalou.
Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston. Pallbearers will be: Steve Joyce, Kevin Holtzhouser, David Holtzhouser, Eric Cornman, Aaron Cornman and Jerry Vogel. Honorary pallbearers will be: Kenny Carlisle, Brad Cude, Wayne Davidson and Rocky Lasters.
