James E. McCormick, 63, died August 3, 2012, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Born February 2, 1949, in Salcedo, to the late Abraham Lincoln and Geneva Louella McCormick Burgess Sr., he was a self-employed carpenter, and had served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include: two brothers, Ricky Burgess of Bloomfield and Dennis Burgess of Sikeston; and two sisters, Mary Burgess of Sikeston and Jeneth Williams of Bloomfield.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, August 9, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with Pastor Jennifer Brashear of the Church of God of Prophecy in Bertrand, officiating.
