

John C. Burgess, 49, of Bloomfield, died December 7, 2014, at his home. He was born January 6, 1965, in Sikeston, to Mary McCormick Burgess of Sikeston and the late Carl Burgess, who died March 21, 1992. John was employed in the warehouse division of Unilever in Sikeston for sixteen years. On April 30, 1982, in Sikeston, he married Delawna Lamb, who survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, April and Cody Castleman of Paducah, Ky.; six brothers, Bobby Burgess of Bloomfield, Howard Burgess of Grovetown, Ga., Fred Burgess of Sikeston, Kinnie Burgess of Charleston, Doyle Burgess of Bloomfield, and Charlie Burgess of Lilbourn; and three sisters, Bernice Freeland of East Prairie, Pam Fautsch of Commerce City, Colo., and Melissa Westmoreland of Morehouse.
John was a Cowboys fan. He loved fishing, hunting, and most of all, laughter.
Like a shooting star, his light burned out fast, but it burned bright!
A celebration of his life for both family and friends will be held at the family home on Sunday, December 14, at 2 p.m. The family requests any memorial contributions to be made directly to the family.
