

John Louis Davis Jr., 87, of Sikeston, died March 10, 2015, at the Miner Nursing Center. Born November 30, 1927, in Muhlenberg County, Ky., to the late John and Pearl Giolitto Davis, he had worked as a boilermaker and was a member of the Boilermaker’s Local Union 27. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Sikeston. He was an assistant scout master for Boy Scout Troop 43 for ten years, and was a bus driver for Sikeston Public Schools for five years. On November 9, 1983, in Bloomfield, he married Ivalu Ellis Dow Davis, who survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: four sons and three daughters-in-law, James and Kimberly Davis of Central City, Ky., Jim and Carol Dow of Sikeston, Robert Dow of Manito, Ill. and Marion and Kari Dow of Scott City; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary Lou and Jesse Prosise of Park City, Ill., Linda Landreth of Mt. Carmel, Ill., Jennie and Anthony Robertson of Manito, Ill. and Sue Ann and Edward Davidson of Tampa, Fla. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with Bro. Joe McCullough, retired pastor of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Sikeston, officiating.
Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors.
