
Born November 12, 1939, in New Hamburg, MO., to the late Alfred and Irene Junger Kern.
He served in the United States Army for approximately three years.
His background included positions with the Southeast Missourian newspaper in Cape Girardeau as a reporter, The Commercial Appeal newspaper in Memphis as a copy editor and a variety of assignments with radio stations in Memphis and Missouri.
In 1968 he graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with an undergraduate degree, he later earned his master’s degree from Tennessee State University.
In 1976 he received a distinctive honor for being chosen as one of the Outstanding Young Men of America.
Survivors include: one brother, Dan Kern of Winfield, MO.
A memorial graveside service will be held Friday, March 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston, MO.
