

Richard Lynn Cannon, age 67, of Benton, died February 26, 2014, at his home. Born September 16, 1946, in Blytheville, Ark., to the late William and Elizabeth Young Cannon, he was a self-employed transportation broker for twenty years, and attended the Morehouse Assembly of God Church. He was an avid Cardinal fan, Nascar fan and card player. He took the most pride in being the best PaPa. On April 22, 1978, in Sikeston, he married Anita McBride, who survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: five sons and four daughters-in-law, Jeff and Ella Long of Bell City, Todd and Bethany Cannon of Scott City, Jimmy and Wendy Casey of Zalma, Greg and Carrie Casey of Sikeston and Chris Cannon of Sikeston; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Tammy and Hank Crane of Sikeston, Missy James of Sikeston and Brandy and Ricky Green of the home; 22 grandchildren, TJ, Jeffrey, Hallie, Jessie, Wendi, Amber, Megan, Samantha, Stormy, James, Nichole, Dalton, Austin, Tyler, Riley, Kyle, Avrie, Aaron, Lauren, Alyssa, Mason and Dallan; and seven great grandchildren, with an eighth great grandchild due to be born in June. Also surviving is one daughter-in-law, Melissa Gates of Bertrand; and special friends, Kay Seiler, Debbie Jones and Janie King.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday, February 28, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, in the Nunnelee Chapel, with Bro. Larry Kirby, pastor of the Abundant Grace Church in Bertrand, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston. Pallbearers will be: Ricky Green, Jeff Long, Jeffrey Long, Aaron Casey, Jim Burch, Austin Green, Tyler Green, Riley Green and Chris Cannon.
