Ron was born February 18th, 1945, in Advance, Missouri to Harvey Mason and Vera Mae (Bess) Mason. He grew up in the small town of Bell City where he graduated high school. From a very early age he learned what hard work was from working on the farm with his family. He married the love of his life at age 21 and decided to leave the farm. From there he traveled the Southeast Missouri region selling insurance until he found himself at the Scott County Community Sheltered Workshop as the assistant director. No matter where he was, he worked hard and followed through showing his family a great display of integrity and work ethic.
When Ron wasn’t working, he was either helping someone with a project, working on a word search, fixin’ a Coke float, or watching Westerns with his favorite puppy dog. He not only taught his family what hard work looked like, but he showed what it meant to be a servant. He was always quick to help meet a need however he could. The way he served best was covering his family and friends in prayers daily. There was a rare conversation where he didn’t mention how he was praying for you.
He is survived by his wife: Janet (Yates) Mason of Sikeston, Missouri and one son: James Mason of Sikeston, Missouri and one daughter: Bethany Mason of Sikeston, Missouri; three grandchildren: Lily Jackson, Noah Mason, and Mackenzie Mason, all three of Sikeston, Missouri and one great-grandchild: Ezrek Jackson of Sikeston, Missouri and one brother in law: David Yates of Sikeston, Missouri and two sister in laws: Phyllis Mason of Dexter, Missouri and Jane Yates of Sikeston, Missouri and one best friend (puppy dog): Albert.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Harvey Mason and Vera Mae (Bess) Mason, one brother: Merlin Mason, one son: Ronnie Mason and one brother-in-law: Kenny Yates.
