Shelley Slater Nunnelee was born May 26th, 1978 in Kansas City, Mo. and made his transition on Nov. 6, 2015 in St. Louis, Mo. Like his namesake, poet, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Shelley Nunnelee was driven by intellectual curiosity and a desire for wide experience. His was an autodidact's love of books, of art, of chess, and of music; at UMKC and the University of Kansas, he pursued studies of composition and of Chinese literature, and of much in between. Matched to those passions was a love for people and for coffee, for cats and for nature; and a big hearted love for the everyday wonders of living. The vibrancy and earnestness of his smile, his talk, and his laugh were well-known on both ends of the state of Missouri. An inimitable warmth and learning shone through in his interactions. He was loved by many; he will be greatly missed.
Shelley was preceded in death by his father, Joe "Mark" Nunnelee, and his brother, Mark Britton "Britt" Nunnelee.
He is survived by his mother, Sharon Slater Nunnelee of Kansas City, and his grandmother, Janice Nunnelee of Cape Girardeau.
