
William Sorsby Vandivort, age 89, of Sikeston, died March 3, 2013, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. Born September 13, 1923, in Cape Girardeau, to the late Leon and Naomi Davis Vandivort, he was a retired self-employed businessman. He was a lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston. On June 28, 1945, in Sikeston, he married Rosemary Putnam, who preceded him in death on October 5, 1999.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Clayton and Laura Vandivort of Sikeston; one daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Dan McLeod of Malden; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Arther Clayton Vandivort;
two sisters, Nancy Morrow and Artie Lee Britt; and one granddaughter, Amanda Jane Vandivort.
Visitation will be held this evening from 5-8pm at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where funeral services will be conducted at 10am Wednesday, March 6, with Rev. Geoff Posegate, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bill Stokes, Kenny Stokes, Jeff Bogue, Don Burnett, Rob Mitchell, Rob Collins and Bill Palmer.
