

On June 13, 2025, Allen Markowitz passed away peacefully. He was the beloved husband of Sandra Markowitz, devoted father to David (Wendy) Markowitz and Rachel (Greg) Glaros, brother to the late Nathan Markowitz and Sheila Smith and cherished son of the late Harry and Bella Markowitz. Allen was a deeply adored grandfather to Sophia and Benjamin Glaros, and Samuel Markowitz. He leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and devotion that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Allen was born and raised in New York City. He met his beloved wife, Sandra, on December 7, 1957. Three years later, they married and went on to share 64 beautiful years together. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the College of the City of New York School of Technology, and went on to complete a Master’s in Electrical Engineering at the New York University School of Engineering and Science.
Allen dedicated 34 years of distinguished service to the United States government at the National Institutes of Health, where he worked as a biomedical engineer and developed 125 medical instruments that advanced healthcare and research. Allen was a man of intellect, curiosity, compassion, and unwavering devotion to his family and community. He found joy in gardening, investing, and most of all, spending time with his beloved family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 16th at 10 am at the Garden of Remembrance Memorial Park, 14321 Comus Road, Clarksburg, MD 20871, at the Memorial Center and Chapel. Livestream service available on the cemetery website - https://gardenofremembrance.org/. The family will be in mourning at 6416 Phantom Moon Walk Clarksville, MD 21029 after interment. Shiva will be observed at the same location Tuesday – Thursday with a service at 8 pm each night.
