

Anthony F. Zanelotti, 92, of Silver Spring, MD passed on to eternal life on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. A Washington, D.C., native, he was the proud son of Italian immigrants and went on to found a thriving business, Contract Carpet Systems in Beltsville, Maryland. A member of the “Greatest Generation”, he served in the 508 AAA Gun Division of the US Army in the Pacific during WWII. Mr. “Z” was most proud of his growing family and cherished the times he spent with family and friends in Fenwick Island, Bethany, Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. He had the unique knack of making each person feel special and loved.
Mr. Z was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Pauline (nee Bower) Zanelotti, and by his parents Louis and Maddalena. Mr. Zanelotti is survived by his two much-loved sisters Angela (Lawrence) Colabucci and Mary (Jack) Goliwas. Although many friends and family members affectionately considered him their “Popeye”, he was father of six children: René (Ralph Henry) Bunting, John (Jan); Zanelotti, Esq., Maria (Kyle) Meyer, Ramona (Coby) Emshwiller, Anthony (William Dietrich) Zanelotti, and Kurt (Gail) Zanelotti. Grandfather to twelve grandchildren: Kimberly (Matt Smith) Bunting, Brooks Bunting, Austin (Ivana Vukovic, MD) Zanelotti, MD; Camille Zanelotti, Kelly (Steven) Climie, Stephanie K. Meyer, Cortney (John) Swokla, Randall (Brendan) Bohan, Coby (Nicole) Emshwiller II, Kyle Emshwiller, Taylor Zanelotti, and Meredith (Curtis) Lazar. Great-grandfather to Louisa, Téa, Carter, Colton,
Marina, Braelyn, Amelia and Kurt.
He also left behind many cherished friends,
neighbors and extended family members.
He was the sunshine of our lives.
Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 6 pm - 8 pm at the Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20904. The Funeral Mass and celebration of Mr. Z’s life will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 12319 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery,
Aspen Hill, Maryland.
