It is with a heavy heart that I announce the death of my beloved Father, Bertram (Bert) Steinberg, where heart failure and pneumonia sadly took his life on August 30th at age 94 in Silver Spring, Maryland. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Nancy S. Steinberg; and their 2 daughters Risa (Tom) Giordano of Durham, NC, and Dori (Steve) Reissman of Rockville, MD; and his grandson Zachary Reissman.
Bert was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He went to the University of Wyoming and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He then married Nancy, attended Long Island University on the GI Bill, and became a registered pharmacist. Bert and Nancy owned Colonial Pharmacy in Union, NJ and later, Scotland Road Pharmacy in Orange, NJ - where he was known by the locals as “doc”. Bert later worked for Horizon Blue Cross of NJ in pharmacy business management until he retired. His hobbies included bicycling, photography, reading, listening to classical music, spending time in New York City, and many country drives. Bert and Nancy were long time members of Temple Emanu-el in Livingston, NJ, followed by additional affiliations in northern NJ, FL, and the Riderwood Jewish Community in MD.
