Beverly Aloha (Ann) Ingram, 96, of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, just nine days before her 97th birthday. Born in Venice, California, and raised in Santa Monica, Beverly lived a full and joyful life centered on her love for God, family, and community. A devoted wife to William “Bill” Ingram for 72 years, Beverly was cherished as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered for her kindness, her lifelong passion for sewing, cooking, reading, and music, and her joyful presence in church choirs and community organizations.
Beverly was born on September 26, 1928, in Venice, California, to the late Alvin Richard “Dick” Wilson and Dessie (Derbyshire) Wilson. The family home was in Santa Monica, California, where Dick and Dessie were bakers.
After the birth of Beverly’s brother, Charles Richard Wilson, in 1930, the family moved to Nogales, New Mexico. There, Beverly and her family developed a love for tacos from street vendors across the Mexican border. Sharing fresh tacos made with corn tortillas became an Ingram family Friday night tradition for many years. The Wilson family continued in the bakery business while in Nogales and resumed their work when they returned to Santa Monica by 1940.
As Beverly grew up in Santa Monica, she enjoyed cutting out paper dolls, often gifted to her by her mother. In time, she developed a lifelong passion for sewing and fashion, taking pride in her fine stitching and tailoring skills. Her interest in baking and cooking, inherited from her parents, also remained with her throughout her life.
While attending Santa Monica High School (“Samohi”), Beverly met U.S. Marine Air Corps Sergeant William Lester “Bill” Ingram, recently returned from service in the Pacific during World War II. Bill and Beverly married on Thanksgiving Day, 1946. Eleven months later, they welcomed their first child, Pamela Sue (Baldwin) Ingram, in October 1947. During these early years, Beverly and Bill owned and managed a malt shop.
In 1949, the family moved from California to Gary, Indiana, where their second child, William Charles Ingram, was born that October. Soon after, Bill discovered an opportunity that allowed him to work, support his family, and attend college. This brought the Ingrams to Bryn Mawr/Seattle, Washington, near Beverly’s mother and relatives. Their third child, John “LJ” Ingram, was born there in 1954.
After completing his electrical engineering studies at the University of Washington, Bill moved the family back to his Indiana roots. The Ingrams remained in Northwest Indiana for the next 20 years. Alongside raising her family, Beverly deepened her passions for sewing, cooking, singing, reading, and exercise. She loved singing in her church choir—a joy that would remain constant throughout her life. Above all, Beverly loved people and sought to live with kindness.
Building on her talents, Beverly became active in the Order of the Eastern Star and sang with the Sweet Adelines.
As their children became adults and left home, Beverly and Bill moved to Memphis, Tennessee, in 1976, where Bill’s parents had retired. In 1980, they settled in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where they spent many happy years. During these years, Beverly continued to nurture her talents and participate in the Eastern Star and Sweet Adelines.
In 2015, Beverly and Bill moved to Silver Spring, Maryland, to be closer to family. There, Beverly continued to sing in her church choir, obtain new books from her library, cook with a collection of recipes, sew the finest seams, exercise, and enjoy a vibrant community of friends.
Beverly was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, William “Bill” Ingram; their son, William Charles Ingram; grandson, Jason Charles Ingram; and granddaughter, Janice (Ingram) Henderson.
She is survived by two (2) children and their spouses: Pamela Ingram Baldwin (widowed), and L J Ingram with Sarah Hall Ingram; nine (9) grandchildren and their spouses: William “Eric” Ingram, Sarah Kaye Ingram, Jeffrey Dale Baldwin, Susan Marie Garver Baldwin, Gregory James Baldwin, Christian Lee Baldwin, Christina Jeanne Taylor-Baldwin, Timothy Allen Ingram, and Rachel Osborn Ingram; eleven (11) great-grandchildren: Ashley Nicole Lindsey, Erin Henderson, Joshua Charles Ingram, Eric Caleb Ingram, Katlyn June Ingram, Garrett Dale Baldwin, Gavin Timothy Baldwin, Adelyn Lee Baldwin, Alyse Marie Baldwin, Evelyn Camille Ingram, and Theodore James Ingram; and one (1) great-great-grandson, Lincoln Christopher Ingram.
In summary, Beverly fully embraced life with a love for God, her family, and all the beauty of creation. She used her hands well—whether in sewing, cooking, or service to others. Her life is a reminder of the enduring gifts the Greatest Generation has provided and continues to give to our nation.
“Mom, you are missed. Your joyful spirit, along with God and all of God’s creation, continues to embrace us and lift us. Thanks be to God.”
