

Carol Augur Cuthbertson, beloved mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully August 25, 2025 at age 95 in Silver Spring, Maryland. Born December 17, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, Carol was the daughter of Tracy Baldwin Augur and Marion Augur.
Carol had fond memories of growing up in Norris, TN. As a teen, she attended Salem Academy in Winston-Salem, NC before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Carol had a lifelong passion for connecting with people and especially loved all of the places she was able to live and visit while a military spouse as well as her many road trips and travels with her late husband Don Cuthbertson during retirement years. She loved to play bridge, found joy in reading, and cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. Carol was a member of the United Church of Christ.
Carol is survived by her two daughters, Janet Browning and Elizabeth (Betsy) Folk. She was the proud grandmother of five grandchildren, Richard Trent, Joshua Browning, Jonathan Browning, Trent Folk, and Alexa Folk, and the great-grandmother of Harper and Marley Browning. She also leaves behind her stepchildren, Jimmy and Becky Cuthbertson, step-grandchildren, Lauren and Paul Silverstein and treasured nieces and nephew, Amy Smith Gibson, Tracy Smith Gray, Nell Smith Chandler, and Bartholomew Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Donald Cuthbertson, and her daughter, Carol Augur Trent.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Carol's life on Sept. 27, 2025 at 2:00 pm, Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 2206 Briggs Road, Silver Spring, MD 20906. Please join our family for light refreshments and a time to share memories following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity.
