Nécrologie de Christine M. Hromockyj
Christine Hromockyj (Христина М. Громоцька), beloved wife of the late Alexander Hromockyj, passed away on July 23, 2022, at the age of 84 in Silver Spring, MD. She was a devoted mother to Alexander E. Hromockyj (Amy Bernhard) and Diana Hromockyj; and a loving and extremely proud grandmother, known as “Baba,” to Julian and Veronika Seider; and Alexander, Chloé, and Elodie Hromockyj. Her most precious and cherished moments were those spent with her grandchildren. Christine is also survived by her sister Motria Lomysh, niece Adriana Lomysh Campbell and family, as well as extended family in the United States and Ukraine. Born in Ukraine, Christine immigrated to the United States in 1949 and lived her teen years in Dunkirk, NY. Upon completing high school, she continued her education in music studies (piano) at State University of New York, Fredonia, and eventually settled in Silver Spring, MD. Christine was a member of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America, Branch 78, and an avid supporter of the Veterans of Foreign War, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and the Ukrainian Museum in New York City. As a former piano teacher, Christine had an appreciation for the fine arts - listening to classical music daily and attending concerts at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. She enjoyed gardening and nature, fashion, photography, as well as collecting jewelry, art, porcelain figurines, and tea sets. Christine was a yard and estate sales enthusiast in search of great finds, had a talent for refinishing furniture and completing house improvement projects, and took great pride in caring for her home of 58 years. Christine had a wonderful sense of humor and was a captivating storyteller. She found wisdom and comfort from many book passages, newspaper and magazine articles, psalms, and expressions – always collecting and sharing meaningful quotations. She reminded those around her to “think only of today and not worry about what may happen tomorrow.” May her soul rest in peace - Vichnaya Pamyat. A visitation for Christine will be held Monday, August 8, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM. A funeral service will occur Monday, August 8, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, Maryland 20904. A committal service and burial will occur Monday, August 8, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 4111 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suitland, Maryland 20706.
