Clueth Adolphus Dooley was born 1941, in Clarendon, Jamaica, to the late Edith Gayle and Constantine Dooley. He made his transition on Thursday, September 15, 2022 in the comfort of his home. Violet, his loving wife of 22 years, was by his side as he peacefully entered the kingdom of heaven.
Clue’s early years in the culturally rich May Pen, Jamaica, were surrounded by love, enjoying childhood with his siblings Eric (Baba), Lisa (May), and Keith. God, family and community were his foundation as he became an outstanding and well respected member of his community.
In 1966, Clue courageously emigrated to Washington, DC, USA with his former spouse, Fay Allen, where they established a home for their four children - Mignonette, Twain, Ruhal, and Conley Dooley.
Clue continued his pursuit of greater opportunities, enrolling in Federal City College (currently UDC) where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in business. He enjoyed success in his profession as an accountant. He was employed by Giant Food and recognized for his achievements in regional management with accounting. Clue retired from Giant Food Corporation after 25 years of exemplary service.
Clue met and married his lovely bride, Violet Gross, establishing their union on December 22, 1999 in the beautiful island-nation of Jamaica. He enjoyed sharing his deep strong Jamaican culture and she embraced and honored his love for “home”. Together they shared twenty-two years in love and covenant with God.
Clue enjoyed life and sports. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Washington Commanders (and an ardent fan of all DC sports teams). He looked forward to watching them play and would often “suit-up” in his team gear.
In his bold journey through life, Clue humbly accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He joined Shiloh Christian Fellowship, was baptized and nurtured his Christian walk as a faithful member. Through his church home, he shared mutual admiration, respect, and affection for his Christian brothers and sisters.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Violet, brother Keith, children Mignonette (Brandon) Johnson, Twain (Gail) Dooley, Ruhal (Wendy) Dooley, Waukita Gross, his grandchildren: Noni, Cyrus, Naomi, Noah, Nolan, Logan, Liana and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Clue was preceded in death by both parents; his son, Conley; and siblings Eric and Lisa.
