David was born on July 13, 1962, in Guatemala to Maria del Carmen Chapeton vda de Robles and Guillermo Robles Fuentes. David was the 6th of 10 children born to the couple. Theirs was a modest but happy home until the death of his father in 1968. David was 6 years old when he lost his father. Regardless of his young age, this event marked the formation of the role that David would assume for his family: protector.
David was an Accountant by trade and left a prestigious internship at Koffino Stahl enterprises in Guatemala City for the opportunity to pursue the American dream in the United States. He arrived in New York and eventually set roots in California. David was fearless in every pursuit, and he reinvented himself numerous times throughout his career’s journey. He worked in metallic bottle cap production, photography, roadwork, construction, phone line installation, landscaping, car sales, financing, tour guide, document translator, Foreign Service Institute Spanish Professor, and Certified Court Interpreter. David was brilliant in everything he did. He was a voracious reader, a poet, a mathematician, a cowboy at heart, and a sports and music aficionado. His quick whit and amazing ability to see the hand of God and the humor in everything made the most difficult moments of his life so sweet.
He met his beloved Brenda at Universal Studios where he was a Spanish Tour Guide and they dated for 6 years including 1 year when Brenda studied aboard in Poitiers France. They married on December 19, 1992, and were married for 31 extraordinary years. They were blessed with two amazing children, Gabriella and Joshua. David was proud of his legacy who he fondly referred to as his family. He often said, the American dream is not for us immigrants but for our children. He had the amazing blessing of watching his children grow into adulthood and thrive in the pursuit of their dreams. David witnessed his son graduate high school, he walked Gabriella down the aisle as she married her beloved Jared and walked the home that they will call their own on this November 5th. He accomplished all his dreams in his 62 years and still it was not enough time. David’s greatest treasure was his precious family whom he zealously loved and protected until his last breath. David lives on through the countless lives he touched and, in the people, he blessed as friend.
