

Douglas Lynn Conrad, age 56 passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at his home in Silver Spring Maryland.
Douglas is survived by his mother, Barbara J. Conrad; four siblings, Tammie Taylor, Terry Conrad, Robert Conrad, and Shannon Deen, thirteen nieces and nephews, Michael Taylor, Melissa Taylor, Jessica Taylor, Zachary Taylor, Chelsey Conrad, Terry Conrad Jr., Alex Conrad, Natalia Conrad, Emma Conrad, Andrew Deen, Adrian Deen, Shaina Deen, and Sarah Deen; and five great niece and nephews, Phillip Ramsey, Michael Taylor Jr., Matthew Taylor, Mason Taylor, and Taylor Queen.
Douglas, a retired U.S. Navy veteran who served his country from 1978 to 1997; most of his service was on the USS Saratoga battleship. Douglas received exemplary service awards throughout his service. Douglas final years of service were being part of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Douglas was born May 17, 1959 in Elkins, West Virginia. Douglas siblings Tammie and Terry along with their parents Barbara and James Conrad, U.S. Navy Veteran relocated to Florida and then moved to Bermuda. In 1969 the Conrad family relocated back to the United States along with the newest Conrad member, Robert. The family settled in Silver Spring, Maryland and Douglas fifth sibling Shannon was born in 1970. Doug’s love for his country was apparent at a young age. He joined the U.S. Navy right out of high school. During Douglas retirement he took care of the Conrad family homestead and helped care for his mother after his father passing in 2001. Douglas also administered business functions for his brother, Terry's Construction Company for many years. Douglas devoted his life to his family, country, and to God.
He is preceded in death by his father, James E. Conrad; grandparents Oral and Lula Haney; Agnes and Ordie Conrad.
