

Dustin Chase Murphy, 27, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on September 10, 2020 from cardiomyopathy. Dustin was exceptionally sweet and loving and unselfishly gave so much of himself to so many. He was truly wonderful in so many ways. The special love, warmth, kindness, and compassion Dustin showed his family and friends throughout his life will forever be cherished. We love him and miss him more than words can possibly express.
Dustin attended Sandy Spring Friends School from Kindergarten through 12th grade. During those years, he formed many very close and lifelong friendships. Some of his extracurricular activities included performing in school plays, ski club, and playing on his school’s baseball team. Dustin was extremely intelligent and quick-witted and had a remarkable memory. He attended the University of Maryland where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from A. James Clark School of Engineering.
Dustin loved socializing with friends and his girlfriend, playing video games, watching shows and movies, and spending time with his family. He was a movie expert and amazing critic. You could always rely on Dustin for the very best and personalized recommendations on shows and movies to watch. He also enjoyed writing short stories and had begun writing several short film scripts. He had been looking forward to life after the pandemic with so many hopes and dreams for a happy and fulfilled future.
Dustin had an incredible sense of humor and was so much fun to be around. He would light up a room the moment he walked in. His amazing quick wit, humor, and ingenious imagination, combined with his warm and friendly personality and irresistable sweetness and charm, would quickly win your heart, brighten your day, and create unforgettable and treasured memories. He would regularly entertain family and friends with extremely funny and creative stories or scenarios that he seemed to think up almost effortlessly. He made every person feel special and he delighted in bringing them happiness. He brightened the lives of so many.
Dustin loved all animals and was a lifelong vegetarian. He was exceptionally kind and gentle and respected all life. He dearly loved his dogs, Lily and Foxy, and enjoyed walking them with his mom each day and treating them to some snuggle time on the sofa in the evening which they absolutely loved. They miss him so very much.
Dustin was so very loving, caring, loyal, thoughtful, and supportive. He was extremely devoted to his family and loved beyond words. He always knew what to say to make you feel better or when a big hug was just what you needed, and he gave the very best hugs ever. He had the sweetest and most genuine personality and the most adorable and unforgettable laugh.
Dustin was loved and cherished by his mother, Sherry Murphy, and dearly loved by his grandparents, Charles (Hamid) and June Cummings; uncle and aunt, Kevin and Rose Cummings; best friends, Jason and Anna Moraff; girlfriend, Britainny Martin; and many other dear friends and family members. He profoundly affected and enriched the lives of so many forever. He is loved so very much and so painfully missed.
My beloved sweet wonderful son, I love you with all of my heart and always will. You brought tremendous love, joy and meaning to my life. I want so very much to be able to tell you just how much I love you and give you a great big hug and kiss. I miss you terribly every moment of every day. Being without you is unbearable. I look forward to the day when we will be together again. You will always be my sweet precious baby boy. All my love forever, Mom

A large gathering to honor Dustin will be held at a later date.
