Elson’s professional life was defined by his ability to bridge the gap between people and technology. He began his career in software sales and support, where he spent many years navigating the complexities of the industry. It was there that he first honed his talent for listening—solving problems for others and translating technical hurdles into human solutions.
In his later years, Elson took that same spirit of service to the road as an Uber driver. To Elson, it was never just about the destination; it was about the person in the passenger seat. He was a man who truly understood that every person had a story worth hearing. He took genuine joy in finding out about his passengers—where they were from and what they loved—turning a simple commute into a meaningful connection. When he wasn’t on the road, Elson was an avid golfer. He found peace in the game’s precision and deep camaraderie in the friendships forged on the fairways. Whether he was chasing the perfect drive or enjoying the quiet of the morning dew, the golf course was his sanctuary.
Of all his titles, the one Elson wore with the most immense pride was "Father." He was a profoundly devoted father to his daughter, Florence. She was the light of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to brag about her successes or share her latest milestones. His pride in her was boundless, and his love for her was his greatest legacy.
Elson is preceded in death by his father, Ho Chang and his younger brother, Grant. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Florence; loving mother, Margaret; siblings, Sherwin, Sandy (Chris); nephews, Brandon,Sydney, aunts, uncles, cuzzies from around the globe, a community of friends, golfers, and former passengers who were touched by his warmth and curiosity.
A Celebration of Elson’s Life will be held at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, Silver Spring on February 12, 2025 at 1 pm. In honor of his sociable nature, the family invites you to come ready to share your favorite story of Elson.
